2024 Call for Applications: CIRM Clinical Research Fellowship in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

We are pleased to offer two positions for clinical trainees excited to carry out research related to stem cell biology and/or regenerative medicine in premier labs at USC. Current US clinical residents or recent MD graduates are eligible to apply. No prior research experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and readiness to embark on a transformative journey! Funding is for two years, and will begin July 1th.

Financial support

  • $77,000 (small % increase each year) + $12,000 health insurance +
    $3,000 travel/supplies

Two step application process

A) Send a letter of intent (due April 12th).

To apply, please email a letter of intent, which includes the following materials, in a single PDF to the Associate Program Director, Dr. Juliane Glaeser, at Juliane.Glaeser@med.usc.edu by 11:59 pm PST on April 12th.

Please follow the instructions exactly as listed below. Name your file “Lastname_Firstname_CIRM_Clinical_Fellowship.pdf”.

  1. Cover letter expressing your research interests
  2. Biosketch including the following information as bullet points:
  • Full name and contact
  • Undergraduate school, month/year graduated, GPA
  • Medical/dental degree (if applicable), institution, month/year awarded
  • Current or anticipated residency program
  • Any current or previous fellowships
  • Any prior research experience
  1. Two letters of reference

B) Laboratory matches and development of research project aims

We will let you know on April 17th whether your letter of intent passed the selection criteria. In case of a positive review of your initial submission, the Associate Program Director will work with you to identify a laboratory that matches your interests. You are expected to develop, in consultation with the PI of your laboratory of interest, a 2-page plan summarizing your research project and aims, which should be submitted by May 15th. The final decision about your acceptance will be made on June 1st.
