Justin Ichida, PhD, recently joined the Eli and Edythe Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research as an assistant professor in the new Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine.
As a postdoctoral fellow at Kevin Eggan’s lab at Harvard University, Ichida and co-workers pioneered the study directly converting human fibroblasts to functional spinal motor neurons by expressing key transcription factors.
In his own lab, he is interested in understanding how genetic and environmental factors contribute to human neurodegenerative disease.
